Born July 8, 1924, in Chesterfield, S.C. Mrs. Sellers is the daughter of the late Wilbert F. Threadgill and Viola Burr Threadgill. She was a devoted Christian mother and grandmother and an active member of Springfield Baptist Church. Mrs. Sellers worked in the textile industry all of her adult life. She retired from Rice Manufacturing and had previously worked at Slane Hosiery. She cherished her family and the time spent with them. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sellers was preceded in death by her husband John L. Sellers Sr. on September 12, 1996, and five siblings, Willie Eugene Threadgill, Naomi Caulder, Louise Adams, Georgia Mae Gulledge and Della Adams.
Mrs. Sellers is survived by two children, Patricia Gayle Beeson and husband James "Red" and John L. Sellers, Jr. and wife Dana all of High Point. She is also survived by four grandchildren;, Rhonda Wilson, Michael Beeson, Jeffrey Sellers, John Sellers III, three great grandchildren; Sarah Beeson, Charlie Beeson, Chay Beeson and one great-great grandson Braxton Gray. Also surviving is a sister Marolyn Smith of Sterling, V.A.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sellers will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Springfield Baptist Church with the Reverend Bobby Loving officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Tuesday afternoon you may stop by the funeral home to pay respects to Mrs. Sellers.
The family requests that memorials be given to the Wesley Long Cancer Center, 501 Elam Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27403, or the Palliative Care Unit at Wesley Long, 501 Elam Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27403, or to Springfield Baptist Church, 1322 Baker Road, High Point, NC 27263.
