BORIS BALAMATOWSKI
DATE OF PASSING: FEB 20, 2004

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Boris Balamatowski on Friday, February 20, 2004, at the Concordia Hospital.

Boris will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years; daughter and friend Dean; his brother, their families, numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother Jessie; his father Peter; sister Salome Viskup and stepmother Agnes.

Boris was raised on a farm in Lorette, MB, then moved to Winnipeg where he later married and had a daughter. Boris worked for the Winnipeg Tribune until its closure in 1980. He was an avid member of the St. Boniface Wildlife Association and curled with the mens' seniors at the Heather Curling Club.

Boris loved life and lived life to the fullest. He was a unique and gentle person. His lively spirit, the way he made you laugh and his kind and caring way attracted the young and old alike. He had a way with people. Family and friends meant everything to him. He always looked forward to his summers at the cottage, meeting the boys for coffee, golfing, curling, fishing, attending his nephews' hockey games and to the simple joys of everyday living.

He was a collector of everything. He enjoyed hunting for treasures, from Coca-Cola collectables, toys, antiques, to just about anything.

The pallbearers will be Ted Viskup, Leo Landry, Denis Lecuyer, Gary Balamatowski, Jordan Balamatowski, and Aaron Balamatowski and the honorary pallbearers will be Pat Bulger and Gilles Fontaine.

Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on 3 West, Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion.

Funeral mass (was) celebrated on Wednesday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd., with Rev. Fr. Fred Olds presiding. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
