Jewell Graduated this world and received her “wings” on April 29, 2018 at the age of ninety-seven. She was born to Josie and Edward Clifton Hedgepeth of Farmington, UT on April 1, 1921.

She is survived by Brent and Dorothy Pickering of Springville, UT, Paul and Chris Pickering of Sandy, UT., Seventeen Grandchildren, thirty-five Great-Grandchildren and seven Great Great-Grandchildren.

Her husband Jay Willard Pickering, their son Gary Jay Pickering, Grandchildren Tammy Neria, Brentie, Meilani, and Paul Pickering have all preceded her in death.

Jewell married Jay Willard Pickering in Evanston, Wyoming on Sept. 3, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in Salt Lake Temple on October 27, 1961. They have resided in Farmington and Salt Lake Utah, Portland, Oregon, Farmington, New Mexico, Durango, Colorado and then back to Bountiful, Utah where they established The Pickering Parade Service with their son Brent. Once Jewell, when asked by a local newscaster “you must really love parades?” Promptly said “H-ll no! I wouldn’t walk across the street to see a parade.” To which the newscaster responded “Now that’s honesty for you!” Jewell’s talent’s in sewing and crochet are well known among her family members. She has passed her passions and talents on to her grandchildren. When Jewell and Jay retired from “Floating” they served two Full Time Missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The first in Bella Kula, Canada and one year after returning, accepted a second Mission Calling in South Carolina where they purchased an RV. Upon returning from that Mission they became “Snow Birds” in Yuma, Arizona. Jewell returned to Springville, Utah to live with her son Brent and his wife Dorothy Pickering in October of 2007. Jewell’s wit and laughter will be remembered fondly by her children and many, many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
