Laman H. Hedgepeth "Lemon", 93, passed away Feb. 14, 2010, in Ogden, UT. He was born to Edward Clifton and Josie Brown Henderson Hedgepeth on Dec. 18, 1916, along with his twin brother Lemuel, in Columbiana, Alabama. When he was four years old the Hedgepeth family moved to Farmington, Utah. Laman graduated from Davis High in 1935. Served an LDS mission to the Northwestern States Mission 1938-40. He served as secretary to President Preston Nibley for 13 months and transcribed his book: Brigham Young, The Man and His Work. After returning home he married his high school sweetheart, Carol June Kerr on April 4, 1940 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Laman and Carol enjoyed a long and sweet marriage that lasted 57 years. He served in the Merchant Marine from 1942-44. He was faithful in the LDS Church and served as a counselor in Clearfield 4th Ward Bishopric and home teacher for many years. Laman and Carol loved the time they shared together fishing at Strawberry Reservoir for many years. Laman spent all his time baiting and removing fish for Carol. She always caught the biggest fish. They also enjoyed traveling various places, especially to Alaska. Survived by son, Fred (Colleen) Hedgepeth; daughter-in-law, Ramona D. Hedgepeth; six grandchildren and spouses; seven great-grand-children; one sister, and a number of nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Thurs. Feb. 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a short funeral service at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 W. 4100 S., West Valley City.
