Known to have been born in the town that is now Łatkowce, Ternopil's'ka oblast, Ukraine.

Anna Dembrowski was born in the village of Latkowce (Polish) / Latkivitsi (Ukrainian), in the district of Borszczow (Polish) / Borschiv (Ukrainian) in West Ukraine. She was born on November 11, 1875 to Ivan and Suzana (n.Paluch) Dembrowski. Anna was baptized in the Roman Catholic faith. The Dembrowski's also had a son Nykola, and daughters Paulina and Antonina. Antonina remained in the Ukraine, and was not heard from after the war.

Anna arrived in Canada from Hamburg, Germany, aboard the SS Willehad at Montreal on October 21, 1911, with their three children. Maria, Petro and Elizabeth.

The family was not shown to have any money although you were to have at least $25.00 to enter the country, perhaps because Hryhory was here, that wasn't necessary.

The ship docked 12:30A.M., passengers disembarked at 7:30AM. A special CPR train transported the immigrants to Winnipeg leaving at 12 noon. Most of the immigrants traveled in steerage.

(From notes prepared by her grand-daughter Eleanore Shmigelski Smiley Chopp)

Sister: Paulina "Polly" (Dembrowski) Storozuk (1881)
Brother: Nykola Dombrowski (1886)
