He married Minerva Maulding about 1846. His children were: Sophia (b.1847), Sallie (b.1853), Mary (b.1855), Ella (b.1856), Virginia (b.1857), Caldonia (b.1861), Benjamin B., (b.1863), Robert W., (b.1867) and Edgar P.(b.1871).

According to his Death Certificate he died on the July 1, 1904. His obituary was published in Dallas Morning News on July 3, 1904, and listed his death on July 2, 1904.
