Isadore Josephine was the ninth child born of James and Sarah Robinson Harwood's family of ten. Her parents were married in Lancashire, England, and sailed for America a few months later. They arrived at the port of New Orleans, Louisianna and traveled up the Mississippi to Illinois where they took up farming. A proud, ambitious family, they always sought to carve a piece of the American dream for themselves. With seven sisters and two brothers, the family took root and blossomed. Isadore first married 25 May 1882 in Hancock County, Illinois, to William E. Phelps, (1863–1900). They had two children, Homer Alvin Phelps, 1884-1951, and daughter Josephine 1899-1903. Isadore's parents came to Nebraska and she joined them. Mr. Richard Yates Moomey had lost his wife Eliza, with whom he had 7 or 8 children. He, who was also a widower and 41 years old, asked Isadore to be his wife and the couple wed November 16, 1904 in Osceola, Nebraska. In 1908, Isadore and Richard had a son they named Arlos Harwood Moomey. Richard Moomey died in 1940 in Gresham, Polk County, Nebraska, but it is unknown when Isadore Josephine died or where she is buried. But her Harwood cousins remember her this day, and wish for this small memorial.
