Denise was born June 23, 1955, in Texas City to Dan and Bennie Moore. She grew up in Texas City and graduated from Texas City High School. She attended Baylor University and graduated with a home economics degree in 1976. In 1980, she married Greg Hidalgo. They had their first daughter, Megan, in 1982 and their second daughter, Ellen, in 1985. Over the years Denise wore many hats: She worked as a fashion merchandiser, paralegal, PE aide, special education aide, secretary and preschool teacher and nursery coordinator at Memorial Baptist Church. Her most important role was as a wife and mother, and she took great pride in caring for her family. She made many sacrifices for her daughters and was always concerned with other people before herself. She bravely fought her cancer, often not letting anyone know how much she was suffering.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Vernon and Martha Moore and Fred and Bartie Ellis; and an aunt, Louise Warren.
