BENNIE JO ELLIS MOORE was born May 6, 1928, in Ravenna, Texas, and went to be with her Lord on January 6, 2015.

Upon graduation from high school, she worked as a secretary at Ford, Davis and Bacon and later as a secretary for the general in charge of the base at Los Alamos, New Mexico. She later worked as a secretary and accountant for two CPA firms and T&T Marine Ways from which she retired in 1982.

Bennie married Dan Moore on July 20, 1946, in Texas City and they moved to Los Alamos where Dan was stationed. After Dan's discharge, they moved back to Texas City where they lived until 1982 when they moved to Crockett, Texas. In 2006 they moved to Richmond, Texas, and she lived there until her death.

Bennie loved to work with little children. She taught four and five year olds in Sunday School for 32 years in Texas City and Crockett. After retirement, she served as a docent for the Historical Society in Crockett. At Sugar Land Baptist Church, she was a member of the Cornerstone ABF and worked with the Fort Bend Food pantry ministry. She enjoyed needlework, sewing, cooking for her family and others, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Dan M. Moore; parents, Fred and Bartie Ellis; sister, Lynn Mullins; and daughter, Denise Hidalgo.

She is survived by her daughter, Danna Walton (Alan); son, Keith Moore (Myra); son-in-law, Gregory Hidalgo (Kay); grandchildren: Jason (Melissa) and Jared (Kendall) Moore, Aleesa (Greg) Griffin, Megan (Ray) Clark, Ellen (Kellen) Vaughan, Jonathan Walton, Marleta (John) Hansen; step-grandchildren: Gary White and Valerie Schuetz; grandchildren: Caleb and Cameron Griffin, Daniel and Katin Moore, Ruby, Myer and Mavis Clark, Hudson and Harrison Vaughan, and Hudson Moore; step-great grandchildren: Jayce White, Jayton White and Bradley Schuetz; nephews: Gary (Marilyn) Warren, Bruce (Peggy) Bristow and Luther Bristow; and nieces: Darenda (Neal) Mallard and Carla Hebert; and numerous friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sugar Land Baptist Church, 16755 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, with Dr. Phil Lineberger officiating. Interment will be held at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, in Hitchcock.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
