Sophia Kracht was
born Feb. 12, 1886, in Sac county,
Iowa, the daughter of Christian
and Fredrica Koch Kracht. She
grew up in Sac county and
received her early education
there. Except for a few years in
Kansas she then spent most of
her years in the Newell area.
Following her mother's death,
she was called to help care for the
family home, raising her brother,
Charles and staying there until
his marriage.

Sophia was well known to many
for her services in home nursing
care and her skillful work as a
seamstress. She was a member
of the Newell United Methodist
Church, joining here on April 25,
1943.

She passed away Jan. 31, 1972,
at the Buena Visjta County
hospital following a period of
illness and surgery. She was
lacking 12 days of attaining the
age of 86 years.

Preceding her in death were
her parents; three sisters and one
brother, Ernestine Kracht,
Augusta Kracht, Lena Woods and
Charles Kracht.

Surviving is one sister, Anna
Larson of Newell, seven nieces
and nephews and 19 grand nieces.
