Beverley was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Springfield, the daughter of Raymond J. Herst and Florence E. Brown Herst. She married Duncan R. Funk on Jan. 23, 1949, at the Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter, Eric L. (Angela) Funk, Armington; Brian R. (Terry) Funk, McLean; Dru Ann Funk, Bluffdale, Utah; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years; sister, Shirley; and an infant son, Stuart.
Beverley attended Hutchings Intermediate High School, Detroit, Mich., and was a graduate of South Pasadena-San Marino High School in South Pasadena, Calif. She attended Illinois State University 1945-46 and was employed by Sangamo Electric Co. prior to marriage.
Beverley was a homemaker and very active in the Pontiac community. She was a member of the McLean County Home Bureau, 1950-60; long time member of the NSDAR; member of the Church Circle, the Setrucha class and a deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Pontiac; volunteer for OSF St. James Hospital, 1975-2000; patron of the Pontiac Library; member of the Clionian Literary Society; member and past president of Pontiac Woman’s Club; member and committee chair of Pontiac schools PTA; member of several bridge clubs; was and an accomplished seamstress (designing and making costumes for Pontiac Township High School plays and community events). Beverley and Duncan enjoyed taking trips to Europe.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. July 1 at the Funks Grove Church and Cemetery, McLean. Memorials may be made to the Sugar Grove Nature Center, 4532 North 725 East Road, McLean, IL 61754.
