Duncan was born July 11, 1925 in Normal, Il., a son of Arthur C. and Mary R. (Radley) Funk. He married Beverly L. Herst on January 23, 1949 at the second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. His wife of 59 years survives in Pontiac. Also surviving are 2 Sons; Eric L. (Angela) Funk-Armington, Il and Brian R. (Terry) Funk-Mclean, Il. And 1 Daughter: Dru Ann (Richard) Cooper-Herrington, Utah, 9 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 Son.
Duncan was a 1943 graduate of Normal Community High School. He enlisted in the US Army and served in the occupation army of Japan. After returning from the service, Duncan , Stephen Funk and a friend began making syrup at Funks Grove Pure Maple Syrup. He farmed until 1960. He began his career in 1955 as an agent for the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company until he retired after 43 years of service. He was part owner of Mr. Quick fast food restaurant in Pontiac and 5 other cities. He was Past President of Pontiac Kiwanis Club as well as a former Board member and chairman of several committees within that club. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pontiac where he had served as a Deacon and Session member. He was also a builder and supporter of Sugar Grove nature Center in Finks Grove.
