Dorothy was born in Livingston, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Robert and the late Delia Sams. She moved to Cincinnati as a young adult and during WWII, she worked at Union Terminal supporting the war effort and was then happy to be a homemaker in their home of 57 years in Mount Healthy. Dorothy loved tending to her garden, sitting outside in the fresh air, visiting with the children who played on the street and making chili for Emily when she came to visit.
