Norma Marie Jones-Murray

Norma Marie Jones-Murray a longtime resident of Homedale, ID died peacefully Sunday the 17th of October 2010 surrounded by family and close friends.

Norma was born in December of 1928 in Hammett, ID. She attended Glenns Ferry High School where she graduated as valedictorian of her class and continued her education at BYU. Norma was called to serve in the Oakland, CA mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1950. Upon returning to Boise she began working for the Idaho Forestry Division. After being married to George Murray in 1955 they settled in Homedale in 1962 and took great pride in owning the Homedale Drug Store. After George's passing Norma sold the drug store and was employed as a bookkeeper for Vance Dairy Construction where she worked until her retirement. During her lifetime Norma held many positions within her church which include working in the Primary, Relief Society and Young Women's. Most recently she served as the Gospel Doctrine teacher and she devoted many hours of service within the Boise Idaho LDS Temple.

Most of all, Norma loved her family. She enjoyed traveling and tending her garden. She had a personality which filled a room any time she entered.

She is preceded in death by spouse George T. Murray Jr.; parents Joseph and Grace Jones; siblings Wayne (Isabel) Jones; Helen (Howard) Brumble, Gordon Jones, Vera (Irel) McQueen, Gwendolyn (Clayton) Nutting; Dorothea Jones; brother in law Don Borup.

She is survived by children Shane (Kelly) Murray & Kim Murray; grandchildren Bradley Murray, Nate (Annie) Murray, Melanie(Buddy) Hendersen, Ciera Thompson, Steven Needham, Nicholas Murray & Scott (Tamara) Cornwell; great-grandchildren Andrew Cornwell, Aundrea Cornwell, Adam Hendersen Aida Murray, Joanus Murray & Elijah Murray, Aric Cornwell & Alec Cornwell; siblings Evelyn Borup; Lois (Lavar) Ward; sister in law Mary Lou Jones and numerous extended family & friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in the Homedale LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held at the church in Homedale on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at Cloverdale Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
