In 1907, Jennie died of "heart trouble" in their home in Mexico, Missouri. Following her death, her husband Charles and their three children moved to Kansas City, Missouri. From there, Charles Sr moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma along with his son Charles Jr and daughter Edna. It was there in 1916 that Charles Bruce Sr died at the age of 83. Following his death, his body was returned to Mexico Missouri where he was buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
