Mrs. Cowdery was born March 27, 1913 in Fayette County, Ohio to Lewis and Eva Arnold Moats. She was a graduate of Bloomingburg High School and was a life-long resident of the community. She was a member of the Bloomingburg United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Bloomingburg Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon W. Cowdery on May 5, 1981; by six brothers, Robert, Joseph, Raymond, Arnold, Carl and Alfred Moats and four sisters, Minnie Howsman, Katherine Gault Overly, Rose Maughmer and Goldie Bocook.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Zana and Lester Vincent of Grove City; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Corky Cowdery of Washington Court House; six granddaughters, Celeste Cowdery, Cammy Reader and Tisha Rapol all of Columbus, Jill Burke of Grove City, Mary Beth Ganim of Westerville and Stacy Williams of Upper Arlington and two step grandchildren, Holly Whitcraft of Columbus and Tyson Whitcraft of Kingston.
The funeral service will be Friday, February 13, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Ray R. McFarland, pastor at the Bloomingburg United Methodist Church and the Rev. Jeff Moats, pastor at the Circleville Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Washngton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
