"Grace Ellen Marshall Morris (May 17, 1923-January 18, 2018; age 94). Grace had a wonderful long life journey filled with joy and love. She was born and grew up in the Chicago suburbs. She met the "love of her life", Donald Morris, at Lake Geneva in Wisconsin and they married on August 25, 1945. Together they had 5 children: Brad Morris (Ronnie), Beth Morris, Janet Buehler (Robert), Mary Hamilton (Greg), and Margaret Morris (Barb); 11 grandchildren (Andy, Megan, Keely, Madeline, Nicole, Samantha, Michael, Lindsei, Jason, Gracie, and Emma); and 7 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Donald , and brothers, Frank and Prentice Marshall, predeceased her. Grace was a long time member at the First Congregational Church in Naperville.

"Grace spent most of her life in Illinois and Wisconsin. She completed her Bachelor's degree at age 47 at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh and became a Medical Technologist. Soon after they moved back to Illinois where she loved working as a Medical Technologist and Lab Supervisor at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. While in Naperville, Grace renewed her love for swimming, becoming an avid swimmer, which continued until 2016 when health issues interfered. She loved being a "Swimmin' Woman".

"At age 81, Grace moved to Winston-Salem to be closer to family. She enjoyed the Winston-Salem Symphony, the Fulton YMCA pool, the trees and fall colors in North Carolina, and the kindness of the new people in her life. Grace believed in the privilege and duty of voting and voted thoughtfully from 1944 through 2016.

"While living at Salemtowne Retirement Community, Grace met her angel companion, Diana Harlow. Together they shared many stories and lots of laughter. Grace loved the Salemtowne staff and greeted all with a smile! The Morris family is so appreciative of the love and care so many gave Grace while at Salemtowne. Special thanks goes to her companions Diana Harlow, Melissa Absher and Frieda Graham.
