Betty (Read) Vincent, 86, of South Kingstown, passed away Tuesday. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis Vincent for 66 years, who recently passed away in March.

Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Winifred (Owen) Read.

Mrs. Vincent was employed by Kent County Hospital, Amtrol, and other local companies.
She loved the ocean and going to the beach, especially East Matunuck State Beach, shopping, knitting, and reading. She was very active at St. Peter’s By –the Sea Church, SHEMCA, and the Snug Harbor Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by two children, Robert Vincent and his wife Grace of North Kingstown and Deborah Crocker and her husband David of Saunderstown; and four grandchildren, Lindsay Vincent, Stacy Veleker, Andrew Crocker, and Winifred Vincent; and a sister-in-law, Mary Read of Warwick. She was the sister of the late Kenneth Read.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 21st at St. Peter’s By-the-Sea Church, Narragansett. Burial was private at the Rhide Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
