Algonac Woman, Pioneer, is Dead
Algonac, March 7, - Mrs. Charles Pemberton 68, died this morning after a week's illness at her home, Green St. Mrs. Pemberton was born in Germany, brought to Detroit as an infant by an aunt and adopted there by Mr. & Mrs., Edwin Poole of Algonac. She lived in Algonac for the rest of her life. She is survived by her husband, who is a boat builder and blacksmith here and the following children.
Dewey of Algonac, Whitfield of Ann Arbor, Mrs. Nellie Jasper, Detroit, Mrs. Susan Brown, Winterhaven, Fla and Mrs. Martha Day, Traverse City. Two sons of Mr. & Mrs. Pemberton were killed in action in the World War. Mrs. Pemberton was a member of the Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church.
Additional information: Blanche Pemberton was adopted by the family of Edwin and Louisa Poole. She was the daughter of John and Wilhelmina Blankertz of Düsseldorf Germany. After the death of her mother in Detroit, her father placed Blanche and her two sisters, Delia and Etta in the Protestant Orphan Asylum in Detroit. Delia was adopted by a minister in Lansing and Etta was adopted by a family from Saginaw.
