A retired automotive salesman and resident of Maurepas, he died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Columbia Riverview Medical Center, Gonzales. He was 72 and a native of Gonzales. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Whitehall, at 11 a.m. Thursday, celebrated by the Rev. Gerald Lefebvre. Burial in Maurepas Community Cemetery. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Laiche and Benny Stanley, St. Amant; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Joyce and J.W. Smith, Livingston; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Herbert and Betty Hughes and Steve and Dollie Hughes, all of Livingston; a sister, Audrey B. Templet, Gonzales; three brothers, L.P. Bourque Jr., Wellman "Cotto" Bourque and Roger Joseph Bourque, all of Gonzales; a grandson, Casey Laiche; and 12 stepgrandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Irene StaffordBourque; parents, Leslie Paul Sr. and Eugenie Bourque; and a sister, Nora Lee Ricca. He was a member of Gonzales VFW Post No. 3693
