DENVER MAYS

Denver F. Mays, 70, Fairground Rd. died Saturday at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie after an extended illness.

Born Dec. 29, 1907, in Elwood, he was the son of Frank and Blanche Wann Mays.

He was married to the former Netina Stahl, who survives.

A prominent area farmer, Mays also taught 17 years in Elwood Schools. He was a past member of the Pipe Creek Advisory Board, a member of the Harmony Christian Church in Leisure, the Elwood Elks, the Madison County Co-op, the Madison-County Farmer's Union and the Madison County ASCS Office.

Surviving with his wife and mother are three sons, Jerry and Joe of Elwood, and Austin of Anderson; a sister, Alice Rife of Elwood and six grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday at the Dunnichay Funeral Home with the Rev Wayne Jocelyn and the Rev. Stephen Salsbery officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemeterv. Friends may call anytime - today at the funeral home. An Elks memorial service will be held for Mays at 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
