Mary Alice "Hun" Bongers, 86, Green Bay, died Thursday, Feb 3, 2005, at a local nursing home.
She was born May 19, 1981 in Green Bay to the late William and Gerturde (Krolopp) O'Connell. On April 30, 1938, Mary was wed to Gordon Bongers. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1959. For many years she worked proudly as a shoe saleswoman for Lou's Bootery, Nobel's Shoe Store and Nau's Shoes. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making crafts.
She is survived by a son and daughter and their spouses, Gary and Mary Bongers, De Pere; Sue and Dan Williams, Howard; 11 grandchildren, Paul, John, Kathy, Julie, Richard, Craig, Rochelle, Bill, Tim, Jared and Chris; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Judy O'Connell, John and Patt O'Connell and Norma O'Connell, both of Green Bay; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and June Bongers, Florida; a special cousin, Shirley, De Pere; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her parents' two sisters, Peggy and Catherine; five brothers, Pat, Will, Jim, Bud and Tom.
Friends may call at Blaney funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
The family of Mary Alice Bongers wishes to extend a special word of thanks to the caring staff of GranCare Nursing Center.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
