Mildred was the youngest of six children born to Samuel and Mary Ann (Downs) Pease. She married (1) Joseph Enoch Stevens in 1886 and they had Samuel K., Lela Agnes, John B., Etta Mae and Beula Beatrice. She later married (2) James M. Middleton in 1900 and they had three children: Lucy, Preston and Clyde C.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Middleton; three daughters, Mrs. J. A. Gossett of Thrall, Mrs. J. L. Toland of Sweetwater and Mrs. Ben Kilgore of Luling and one son, Clyde Middleton of Thrall.
