Survived by wife of 76 years, Betty (Matsko) Kohler; children, Sandra, wife of Richard Sciotti and George E. Kohler and wife, Carole (Koot), both of Windber and Jane M. Kohler, Washington, D.C., retired United Airlines Flight Attendant; grandchildren, Dr. Richard Sciotti Jr., Christine Reed, Kristen Russo and Kelly Goncher; also, great grandchildren, Ricky, Nicole, Connor, Sydney, Nicholas, Rachel, Avery and Allyson. U.S Army Veteran WWII, Pacific Theatre, Artillery.
George started to work in the coal mines at the age of 14 and retired as a superintendent with Crown Construction. Member Windber American Legion and also was a member of the United Mine Workers Union since 1935. He enjoyed duckpin bowling where he was best average bowler, carpentry, fishing, golfing, playing pool, hunting and playing cards.
There will be no viewing or visitation, however, family and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Monday at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Windber where George was a member. Reverend George Gulash, Celebrant. Private family interment, SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery, Windber with Graveside Military Honors by Windber VFW ritual Team. Arrangements by the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. Donations may be made to the Windber Public Library in Georges memory.
