BIOGRAPHICAL:
"J.D. COMBS, representing the Eighth district in the lower House of the Assembly, was born in Hopkins County, KY, in 1852. During the civil war his parents moved to Indiana, finally moving to Dallas county, MO, in 1870. Mr. COMBS lived in Missouri for twenty years and was married there. In 1890 he came to the Indian Territory and settled in the Chickasaw country, and in 1893 moved to Pottawatomie county and settled on a farm near Avoca. He has followed the vocation of farming all of his life and is especially active in guarding the welfare of the farm, and his sympathies are with the laboring element generally. Mr. COMBS' wife died about four years ago and his family consists of four children. He is a progressive citizen and has the honor and respect of his constituents, whom he is faithfully serving in the Fifth Assembly.
