Charles F Jordan was born 22 May 1866 in Rockbridge Co., Virginia, to parents Charles F Jordan and Mary Hamilton. He was the spouse of Amelia Waesche. On 15 Oct 1945, he died in Buena Vista, Rockbridge Co., Virginia. The informant was Miss Mabel Jordan. VA CD.

His father's middle name was Francis, according to daughter Mabelle Gray Jordan's obit. Mabelle "was the only child of Charles Francis Jordan Jr. and Amelia Waesche Jordan."

"CHARLES FRANCIS JORDAN Buena Vista, Oct. 15—Charles Francis Jordan, Jr., member of a prominent Rockbridge county family, died at midnight Sunday at his home here. He had been in ill health for a number of years. Mr. Jordan was born at what is now Old Buena Vista before the present Buena Vista was formed and was the son of the late Charles Francis Jordan and the late Mrs. Ella Hamilton Jordan. He was known in this community for his goodness to the poor people. He is survived by Miss Mabell Jordan, Beverly R. Jordan and Mrs. Ruth Jordan Slough and two brothers and one sister: Archibald A. Jordan, Keyser, West Va, J. T. Jordan and Mrs. John H Dickinson, Buena Vista. His wife Mrs. Amelia Waeshe Jordan, passed away in February, 1939. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Christ Episcopal church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. J. E. Bethea, rector of the R. E. Lee Memorial Chapel Lexington. Interment will be a the Presbyterian cemetery, Lexington. Active pallbearers will be: H. C. Davis, J. T. L. Dickinson Jr., Alvin Oakes, P. L. Paxtorn, James A. Poston, E- H. Rinker, L. E. White. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. J. H. Mapp, W. E. Dickinsor H. L. Phillips and S. C. Reid." Published in the Rockbridge County News, Vol 62, # 1, dated 1 Nov 1945 (see photo).
