Barbara Ellen Callahan, 88, of Oak Street, Jackson, Ohio, died 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at her home.
Barbara was born June 14, 1929 in Perry County Ohio the daughter of the late Walter Howdyshell and Zella (Nutter) Howdyshell. On October 23, 1948, Barbara was united in marriage to the love of her life Myron L. Callahan who preceded her in death December 25, 1985.
Surviving are six sons and Phillip, who she loved like her own, a daughter, of Jackson, Ohio, four sisters, a brother, of New Lexington, Ohio, and numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Joseph Howdyshell, David Howdyshell, Henson Howdyshell, and sister, Nancy Rosella Howdyshell.
Barbara was a homemaker and a member of American Legion Post #81 of Jackson, Jackson First Baptist Church and Wesley United Methodist Church. Barbara enjoyed cake decorating and painting much of her life.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home, 28 Harding Ave, Jackson, Ohio under the direction of BOYER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Bill Goodall officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson.
Family will receive friends at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara’s honor to Wesley United Methodist Church Youth Group, 1384 Cove Road, Jackson, Ohio.
