Mr. Joseph Edward Whalen Jr., age 85, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on November 18, 1932, to Joseph & Helen (Benedict) Whalen and served his country in the US Army War. He married the former Mary Lou LaRue in 1956. Mr. Whalen was the owner of Joe's Friendly Service after taking it over from his father. Joseph was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, a volunteer fireman for Norton Shores Fire Department, volunteered with Awana and most importantly, enjoyed spoiling his grandkids.

SURVIVORS Son, Joseph (Wendy) Whalen III of Boyne City; daughters, Pamela Kuziak of GA, Jill (John) Grasley of Fremont; grandchildren, Joe IV, Valerie, Amy, Jennifer, Michael, Matthew, Anna, Erica; great grandchildren, Emma, Noah, Micah, Payton, Joe V, Alice, Haliey, Henry, Mia, Brinlee, Lukas, Emelie; brothers, Edward (Alma) Whalen, Bob (Kathy) Whalen, Richard (Sharlyn) Whalen all of Muskegon; sister, Julie (Jerry) Shepard of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by Wife, Mary Lou in 1993.

SERVICE Tuesday, April 3, 2018, 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior at Clock Chapel - Muskegon with William J. Rudd officiating. Interment in Norton Cemetery. VISITATION Monday, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL70x7 Muskegon.
