Edgerton – Rip Reinhold Stumpf, 68, Rt. 4, Edgerton, died unexpectedly Friday at University Hospital, Madison, where he was admitted earlier Friday.

Mr. Stumpf, an Edgerton businessman for 34 years, owned and operated Stumpf’s Rexall Pharmacy from 1934, when he purchased the former Dean Swift Drug Store, until retiring in 1968.

He was born at Kiel, Wis., Jan. 13, 1908, and was a graduate of Kiel High School and Marquette School of Pharmacy in 1929. He was married to Edith Schrub of Edgerton Aug. 22, 1934, at Lewiston, Ill. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a member and past president of Edgerton Chamber of Commerce, and served in the Southern Wisconsin Vacationland Association for development of the Lake Koshkonong area.

Mr. Stumpf was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Association, Fulton Lodge No. 69, F&AM, Zor Shrine, Madison Consistory, American Legion, Knights of Pythias, and a former member and past president of Rotary Club.

Surviving are his wife; a brother, Carl, Kiel; nieces and nephews.

Services are Wednesday in Trinity Church, with burial in Fassett Cemetery.
