Survivors include his daughters, Audrey Bailey and Vickie Lynn Millwood; son, George Byrd; brothers, Leroy Byrd (1913-1995), Cecil Vernon Byrd (1920-1997), and James Byrd (1926-2017); half-brother, Carl Byrd (1897–1980); half-sisters, Zula Byrd Wray (1900–1977) and Myrtle Byrd Higgins (1894-1983); and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 pm, Friday, May 14, 1976, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel by Rev. W.K. Metters burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
