* Was two years old when his family moved from Virginia to the Washington State for economic reasons.
* Was very blonde as a child.
* A very talented athlete. Baseball was his favorite sport and typically played catcher. Played basketball. Ran track and field and wrestled in High school.
* Played the mandolin and the piano.
*Worked on his Dad's farm as a boy, and on a railroad crew as a young man.
* As an adult, he owned a small dairy farm and sold milk.
* Worked on the county road crew and drove snowplows.
*Worked as a "rough" carpenter. (Barns, sheds, gates)
* Loved to read books about history. wanted to be a History Teacher but his Dad didn't encourage him to go to college.
* Had a group of silly buddies as young aldults, and they had a lot of fun together. Hazel joined that group as they courted.
* Loved to talk politics and was a Republican.
* Acted in community theater plays as an adult.
* Loved to dance-- waltz, two-step and square dancing.
* Elected to the Glenwood School Board as a young man.
* When he sold the farm, he moved to BZ Corners so that Hazel could be nearer a branch of "her church" in White Salmon.
* Volunteered to help in the Branches' service related endeavors.
* After he moved, he worked for Russell Kreps on a cattle ranch. Decided not to work on Sundays.
*Was a good neighbor and pitched in to help others with their needs.
* Cared a lot for and was very kind to his mother, and was very solicitous of her.
* Was really proud of kids and the kids.
* Was VERY stong, but was always very gentle.
* Intent on training Bob to be an athlete. Played a lot of baseball together. Let Bob use boxing gloves on him.
* Moved to Ogden, Utah when his Alzheimer's worsened and Hazel needed help with his care.
