A native of Rutherford County, NC; son of the late William Volney Bennett (1893–1968) and Mary Belle Davis Bennett (1898–1988); husband of the late Jacquelyn R Womack Bennett (1934–2014).
Attended Gilkey School, served in the U. S. Army from 1956 to 1958 in Germany where he worked in chemical supplies; and graduated from Forsyth Community Technical College, and worked as a supervisor at A-C Corporation until retirement.
A faithful member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church; loved the Lord, his family, and his church family. They were a blessing to him. Roy was an honorable man of integrity. He could say more without speaking words than most anyone. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend to all and would help anyone in need. His love was unconditional.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie Roberts Durham (Louis Hal); sons, Guy David Roberts (Carla), Gregory Lee Roberts (Vickie); sister, Dorothy M. Brown; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also predeceased by his siblings, Davis Baxter Bennett (1924–2001), Ellen E. Bennett Nodine (1926–1975), Edith Frances Bennett Elliott (1928–2017), Katie Bennett (1929–1933), Carolyn Parmelia Bennett Clark (1931–1994), James Alvin Bennett (1933–2014), and George Henry Bennett (1945––2002).
The funeral service was held at Fellowship Holiness Church, officiated by Rev. Leon Brown and Rev. Bobby Brown; interment at the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
