Roy Woodney Reid, age 70, passed away peacefully at the home of his son, surrounded by his family, on Monday, September 15, 2003 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Roy was the youngest of 12 children, born July 16, 1933 in Midvale, Utah to William John Reid and Jane Olive Powell. Served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. He married Laraine Case on August 24, 1956, their marriage was solemnized in the LDS temple on November 23, 1966. Later divorced. Roy retired from the Jordan School District in 1993, he loved his work and made and cherished many lasting friendships. Roy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his Lord and his family. He had a love for fishing, gardening and the outdoors. He never tired of giving to others and made friends wherever he went.
Survived by his children Kathi (Wes) Jolley, Wallace, Keith (Natalie), Vicki (Scott) Nash, 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandson; four sisters; Jessie Yaunt, West Valley; Myrt Arko, LaVerkin; Merle Meadows (West Valley), and Betty Douglass, St. George, Utah. The family would like to thank Dr. G. Harker, J.P. Hughes, and Rocky Mountain Hospice who cared for dad during his illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2003 at the Elm Creek Ward Chapel, 8539 South 2200 West. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Rd. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 at the Church prior to services. Interment Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
