Judith Ann Ernst of Montague, passed away after a short battle with leukemia on Nov. 26, 2016 at Harbor Hospice Poppen House. She was born May 25, 1938 to Henry and Alice Kemstra and graduated from Shelby High School in the class of 1956. She married Otto Ernst on Sept. 3, 1960 in Shelby Michigan and worked as a bookkeeper for Shelby State Bank, Hooker Chemical Lab, New Era Village Clerk and the Village of Shelby. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved life and enjoyed boating, golfing, family and friend gatherings, gardening, sewing, reading, quilting and knitting. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Otto, sister Sue (Mike) Babinec, brother Ben Kemstra and daughters Linda (Randy) Hughey, Mary Jo Ernst, Sharon (Juanita Gier) Ernst, Kathy (Tom) Oakes, Melanie (Mike) Dumonte and son-in-law Jim Harris. Grandchildren Eric and Erin Hughey, Irene and Nicole Skokna, Scott and Sean Harris, Brittany DuMonte, Emily and Kelly Oakes and Josh Key. She was preceded in death by her daughter Connie Harris, brother Jerry Kemstra and sister Nan Dodson. Visitation is Fri. Dec. 2nd, 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. The funeral service will be held Sat. Dec. 3rd, 11 am at Shelby Congregational Church. A luncheon will immediately follow, also at the church. Memorials donations to Harbor Hospice 1050 W.
