Starta was a social butterfly. This was evident early on. At Webster and Eaton Elementary Schools, she loved hanging out with her friends and the yard duty teachers. Her greatest accomplishment was getting perfect attendance from K-4" grade.
Church was another thing Starla enjoyed. She loved to worship God anywhere, at home, at the hospital, in the car, it didn't matter where. You could hear Starla singing songs like "You Are So Beautiful to Me" and "Imagine Me."
In her short ten years on earth, Starla left a strong legacy for all to follow. She didn't complain about her situation instead she smiled and continued to let her light shine. Starla knew she was a child of God. She wiped our tears when she declared she was going home to be with Jesus. On Tuesday, March 27, 2007, Starla's light was transferred into Heaven.
Starla is survived by her loving parents, William and Tammie of Fresno; her brothers and sisters, Essence and Stephan of Fresno, Jasmine of Florida, and William, Jr. of Delaware; her maternal grandmother Bobbie of Fresno; and grandfather Earl of Chicago; her paternal grandmothers Sarah of Fresno and Debra of Lancaster; and grandfather Jim of New Mexico; her special 'buddies' Nuntie, Auntie, Tia, and Julease; and many more caring aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Starla's Life will be held at Saint Rest Baptist Church, 1550 E. Florence in Fresno, California, on Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may he made to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
