Betty "Gene" Massey, 93, was welcomed into heaven on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Amarillo.

Gene was born April 21, 1924 in Tulia to Howard and Mabel Edwards. She married the love of her life, Ansel Z. Massey on February 7, 1942 in Amarillo and enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Gene loved her Lord with all her heart and enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the piano at her church. She had a servant's heart and was always volunteering and serving others through Bell Ave Baptist Church, where she was a proud charter member. Her greatest blessing was her family and she cherished each and every one. She also enjoyed sewing, camping, crossword puzzles, crafts, ceramics and bowling.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sons, Lynn Eldon Massey and Richard "Dwaine" Massey; four brothers; two sisters; and one grandson, Brian "Todd" Massey.

Gene is survived by one daughter, Brenda Reese and husband David; two sons, Sheldon Massey and wife Julie, and Lyndon Massey and wife Beverly all of Amarillo; one sister, Phyllis Squyres; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild.

A visitation will be from 6-7 pm, Friday, March 23, at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, March 24, at Bell Ave Baptist Church, 5211 Bell. Burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
