Lyle M. Hoover 71, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007, at his home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with the Rev. Dwaine Simonsen officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
Lyle is survived by his wife Jeanette; daughters, Crystal Hoover of Phoenix, AZ, and Rebecca (Rodney) Hayes of Amarillo, TX; three grandchildren, Tyler, Kristin, and Stephanie Hayes, all of Amarillo; his brother Dale Hoover of Rogers, AR; nephews, Dean Richardson of Badger, Bruce Hoover of Sperry, OK, Cody Hoover of Oklahoma City, OK, Dewayne Hoover of Owasso, OK, and Cary Hoover of Alexandria, VA; great-nephew Collin Richardson of Belmond, and Ryan Hoover of Rogers, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Julia Patten Hoover; sister Bernadine Richardson; and brother Paul Hoover.
Lyle Marvin Hoover was born December 30, 1935, at Rockwell City, Iowa. He attended Rockwell City High School. Lyle served in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. In 1957, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Long of Lehigh. Lyle worked for Wonder Bread in the Fort Dodge area for many years, and then was employed in food service management until his retirement.
