Winston F. Turner, 73, of Timberville, VA, died March 17, 2018 at Sentara RMH.

He was born in Rockingham County on January 26, 1945, lived his early years in Fulks Run, and was the son of the late Marshall H. Turner, Sr., and Katherine A. (Turner) Campbell.

He graduated from Broadway High School Class of 1964 and then attended Blue Ridge Community College. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served from 1966-1967 with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam. He was a member of Woods Chapel Independent Bible Church and had a love of nature, farming, hunting, and fishing. Winston was an icon of 45 plus years in the poultry industry, beginning his career with Wilson & Co., and continuing with Long Foods, Holly Farms, Tysons, and George's as the companies transitioned. He retired from George's in September 2016. Winston was active with the Rockingham Poultry Servicemen's Organization and served on the Board of Directors of Rockingham Petroleum Co-op.

On September 11, 1976 he married the former Mary Alice (Good) Miller, who survives.

He is also survived by his four brothers, Marshall H. Turner, Jr., Kenneth J. Turner and wife Juanita, Max W. Turner, and Pastor Glen W. Turner and wife Sandy; a sister, Faye T. Reedy; a daughter, Carole L. Miller; granddaughter, Bridgette R. Miller; mother-in-law, Alma F. Good; seven nephews; one niece; and three great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark A. Turner.

A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 6-8 PM at Woods Chapel Independent Bible Church.

Burial will be private. A memorial service by Pastors Glen Turner and Tim Miller will be Wednesday, March 21st, at 1 PM at Woods Chapel Independent Bible Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Woods Chapel Independent Bible Church, 58 Splinter Lane, New Market, VA 22844, or a charity of one's choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
