He was born and raised in Knoxville, TN., and an avid Tennessee Vols fan.

He dearly loved the Smoky Mountains and considered them his home. Mike was involved in Civil War re-enacting for most of his life. He was a master craftsman in woodworking and involved in the sales of woodworking machinery in North Carolina and Tennessee for many years. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Gastonia and was involved with the Men’s Ministry’s goal of raising money for a playground to be built at Webb Street School that is accessible to differently abled children. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved us all dearly. He loved his dog, Belle who went over the “Rainbow Bridge” one year ago. One day we will all be reunited.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Bonnie L. Edwards; children, Eloise Edwards Poteat and Eugene Michael Edwards, Jr., James (Stephanie), Paul (Emily) and Mark (Jessica) Evans; grandchildren Isaac Tober, Owen E., Zachary, Anikah K.
