Mrs. Huffaker

Rhoda Priscilla Barnum Henry Huffaker was born October 3, 1834 in Charlotteville, Norfolk, Upper Canada to Adeliza Lauretta Truman and Henry Verveleen Barnum.

She traveled with her parents to Ypsilanti, Michigan. There she received the best education possible at the time, and when old enough entered a young ladies seminary where she was on the honor roll.

She has been described by those who knew her as a beautiful woman with long black hair that shone with highlights in the sun. Her daughter states she was "kind, gentle, and considerate". She always had a kind word for everyone. She had many hardships, but was faithful through it all. She was skilled in needlework.

She married Calvin William Henry on February 23, 1851 at Pontiac, Michigan.

The first child born was James Barnum. He was born on June 30, 1852 in Pontiac, Oakland, Michigan. They crossed the plains in 1853 or 1854. They settled in Salt Lake, Utah. Here their second child was born on April 25, 1855 - a little girl they called Lauretta Maria. They divorced.

Priscilla became the fourth wife of Simpson David Huffaker on March 24, 1856. Simpson and Priscilla had four children together.
