Mr. Carl Eugene Baldwin, Sr., age 72, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at a local hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Baldwin was born in Chattanooga, TN, on January 9, 1945, son of the late Jess Zachary Baldwin and late Naomi Cornelison Baldwin.

Following high school he joined the United States Army. While in the military he earned an associate degree in management. Mr. Baldwin was of the Baptist faith and was associated with Mannington Mills before retiring in 2010.

He enjoyed hanging out with his grandbabies, camping and fishing. He is affectionately remembered as hardworking, loving and independent.

In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by a son, Carl Eugene Baldwin, Jr., a daughter, Heather Marie Baldwin, and two brothers, Danny & Ricky Baldwin.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Rev. Mac McCurry and Mr. Brandon Broome officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with military rites presented by Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
