Betty Jean was born August 15, 1924 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Howard D. and Mary Elizabeth Tackett Mayfield. She attended all grades in Friona and graduated in 1941. She met the love of her life, Keith Love Blackburn in grade school. They were married on November 16, 1942, and were married 62 years. They owned the Mobil Oil Co. in Friona and later owned Blackburn’s Ladies Ready to Wear in Albuquerque, N.M. She has resided with her daughter in Alpine, California for the last 5 years.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ of Friona, Albuquerque and San Diego.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister-Dorothy Lovelace.
Those continuing her legacy include 1 daughter-Dr. Jill Blackburn Anella and husband Dr. Ben Anella of Alpine, 1 sister-Peggy Snider Gikas of Salado, Texas, 1 sister-in-law-Anna Jo Blackburn of Friona, grandchildren-James Keith Anella, Justin Anthony Anella, Jason Howard Anella and wife Candice, Jennifer Jean Anella Lorek and husband Dan and a great-grandchild-Aurora Rian Anella.
