Dennis was born in Titus County, Texas, to Harvey and Mildred Landrum Buchanan.
Dennis joined the United States Air Force in May of 1955, and served for 8 years. He then worked for the Texas Highway Department for 11 years, and then left that job to join Texas Utilities, retiring from Texas Utilities in 1992. Dennis was a member of the Northridge Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant.
Dennis married Betty Susan Cox on July 9, 1957, in Mount Vernon, Texas. They had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2017. Dennis and Betty were the parents of three children.
To his grandkids, he was affectionately known as “Gramp”. He was an only child, and is preceded in death by his mother and father. He loved his God and his Savior and his family more than anything, and he will be greatly missed by all.
