He was born in Kentucky. Married his first wife in TN-Permelia Edna Burgess-had three children from her-Scy Anderson Abbott, Zora Belle Abbott, and Josie Ellen Abbott.

They divorced abt 1888.He went back to KY. and married his second wife- Rosa Edith Unknown and had a son-James "Jim" Abbott born 4/17/1893 by her. Not known what happened but he is next seen in KY and married to Mary E Pyle.

They have a daughter Eva Vena born 1/15/1919. Mary Pyle died in Nov of 1919. Before 1936 he was back in Overton co., TN. In July of 1936 he remarreid his first wife Permelia Edna Burgess Abbott. She died around 1941 and at some point he moved to Jay Co., IN and lived with his daughter Eva. He died March of 1953 in IN. His daughter Eva died in July of 1953-only a few months longer than her father. She is buried next to him in a separate grave and tombstone.
