Joseph M. 'Birdman' Trotter, 58, of Oklahoma City, went to his last biker's rally, on Monday, April 2, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Sept. 24, 1948, in Jacksonville, Texas to Travis and Corriene Trotter. He served in the United States Navy as mechanic on the USS Wasp, and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was the president of the Vietnam Veteran's and Legacy Veteran's Motorcycle Club for five years. He loved to ride motorcycles, attend rallies, sing and play chess. He was known for his off-beat sense of humor and his love of riding motorcycles. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary Darcy-Castro of Oklahoma City and Jacksonville, Fla.; his adult children, Joseph Scot Trotter and wife Sheryl of Oklahoma City, and D'Arcy Dawn Born and husband Perry III of Pawnee, Texas; his infant son, Joseph Amiel Zane Trotter of Oklahoma City; three step-children, Ensign Charles Darcy, John Darcy and Nicole Darcy all of Jacksonville, Fla.; his first wife, Linda Trotter of Pawnee, Texas; two sisters, Donna Villines of Tulsa and Judy Mees of Cameron, Texas; five grandchildren, Karla Trotter, Shawn and Trent Morett, and Zoie and Perry 'Colby' Born IV; three great-grandchildren, Kyran, Jazzi and Trent Morett Jr.; his brothers in the VNVMC; and numerous other family members and friends. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Demuth Funeral Home, 1145 W. Britton Road, with family attending from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial services will be held there at 2 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2007. A biker's wake and memorial will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Charlie's Last Stand between noon and 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
