Rutherford Hayes McMillan was born in Harrison county, Ohio, August 31, 1872 and passed away Thursday, April 19, 1945, aged 72 years, 8 months and 18 days. He was the youngest of twelve children of Johnson and Martha McMillan. The family came to Stafford county in 1877, and settled southwest of town.

He was united in marriage to Sadie Dellinger, Dec. 6, 1896. To them were born seven children; George and Jeanette passed away in 1906 and Woodrow in 1914.

He is survived by three sons: Dewey of Stafford; Lloyd, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Norton, with our armed forces in France; and one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Keller, Dodge City; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; two brothers, J.E. McMillan of Denver, Colo. and Henry F. McMillan, of St. John.

Funeral services were held in the Peacock and Soice Memorial Chapel, Sunday afternoon, April 22, 1945, by Rev. H.P. Woertendyke, pastor of the Methodist Church. Interment in the Stafford Cemetery.
