Clara was born a daughter of Casimer Kalisz and Stella Kisluk Kalisz of New Britain. She attended local schools and worked at American Hardware before moving to Chicago and several other locations in the United States before settling in Las Vegas with her husband, Ralph Granat, who was retired from the U.S. Navy. They enjoyed vacationing in their motor home to many of the western states before Ralph was killed in an automobile accident in 1973. Clara is survived by three sisters, Helen Leonard of Forestville, Irene Niewinski and her husband, John, of New Britain and Mary Ann Forgione and her husband, Joseph, also of New Britain. Clara died at DelMar Hospital at age 82.
