Johnsville Man Is Stricken in Theater

Charles S. Brown, Accompanied By His Daughter And A Small Girl, Died At The City Opera House.

Stricken with a heart attack while attending the movies at the City Opera House Monday afternoon, Charles S. Brown, near Johnsville, died in his seat. The man was accompanied by his daughter and a small girl. He appeared to be asleep and when the girls attempted to arouse him they discovered he was dead.

Sheriff Guy Anders, Deputy Horace Alexander and the county medical examiner were summoned and viewed the body. A verdict of death by natural causes was given by the examiner. Brown had been in ill health for two years. He was aged 62 years, 9 months, 15 days. The body was removed from the theater by M. R. Etchison and Son and later turned over to G. C. Barton, Walkersville funeral director.

Brown was a son of the late Elias H. and Mary Catherine Phillips Brown and had resided most of his life in Johnsville district. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mollie I. Beard Brown, and the following children. Charles A. Brown, Walkersville; Mrs. Belva A. Barton, Johnsville; Mrs. Hallie Hoover, Walkersville; Catherine Utie, Russell, George, Donald and Bessie Brown, all at home. One stepson, Wilmer L. Beard, near Woodsboro; two grandchildren; one brother, E. Hall Brown, Johnsville, and two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Haifleigh, near Walkersville, and Mrs. Grayson Anders, Rocky Ridge , also survive.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the late home with services at Rocky Hill church. Interment adjoining cemetery.
