On February 26, 1944 Betty married her high school sweetheart Kenneth “Lee” Davidson at Smokie Hill Air Force Base in Salina, KS. After Lee’s honorable discharge from the army in 1945, they made their home on the top of the hill in Indianola, where they raised their 5 children. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and family Sunday dinners. Betty especially enjoyed her travels which included family times in the mountains of Estes Park, CO, and trips to California by train.
Betty was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Indianola American Legion Auxiliary, Fireman’s Auxiliary, and the Indianola Historical Society. Betty was employed at Republican Valley Elementary school as a secretary for 27 years before her retirement in 1997. Together they spent a many Saturday nights with the Family Frolics square dance where they made many lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; daughter, Debi Cullen; great-grandson, Bernard Davidson; sister, Bernice and husband Clifford Vaughn; brother, Jim Quigley; sister-in-law Margaret Quigley.
Survivors include son, David and wife Connie Davidson of McCook, NE; daughter, Nanci and husband Tom Stritt of Indianola, NE; son, Tom and wife Joellyn Davidson of Indianola, NE; and daughter, Lisa and husband Don Felker of McCook, NE; brother, Charlie and wife Lois Quigley of McCook, NE; brother, Kenneth Quigley of St. Francis, KS; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and loved ones.
