Carol M. Neeson, 83, of 115 South Third Street, Manistique, Michigan died February 27, 2018 at her home in Manistique.

She was born July 1, 1934 in Engadine, Michigan the daughter of William Thomas and Ferzena (Brockman) McCarney and attended school in Engadine.

On October 2, 1951 the former Carol M. McCarney married Glenn J. Neeson in Engadine and they made their home and raised their family in Manistique. Glenn preceded her in death on February 11, 2010.

Carol was a homemaker and stay at home mom until 1967. She then started working as an attendant at the King Koin Dry Cleaners in Manistique for several years.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Manistique, the Women of the ELCA, and the Schoolcraft County VFW Post #4420 Auxiliary. Over the years she enjoyed playing on the area bowling, volleyball, softball, and horseshoe leagues.

Carol is survived by her children, Kendall (Linda) Neeson of Clinton Twsp., MI, Nancy J. Neeson of Coos Bay, OR, Jeffrey (Sherri) Neeson of Manistique, and Bardo W. Neeson of Manistique; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Tom and Ferzena McCarney; and her husband, Glenn; she was preceded in death by her sisters, Opal McLear, Betty Patz, and Mildred McCarney; and her brothers, Leonard, Willard, Robert, Norman, and James McCarney.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manistique with Reverend Terry Frankenstein officiating. A time of sharing and refreshments will follow in Zion’s Augustana Hall. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.

Memorials donations may be directed to the Eva Burrell Animal Shelter or to the Manistique Senior Center.
